It’s that time of year again. The time when we get a little less sleep, but a lot more sunlight! Daylight Savings Time adds an hour to standard time which allows people to have more daylight and helps us conserve energy. The simple explanation is that sunrise will be an hour earlier than normal.
For many of us, this means we will have a few sleepy mornings on our way to work or the gym and then things get back to normal. However, Daylight Savings has a much more positive side, the side that gives you an extra hour of daylight. So the question is, what can you do in an hour?
Bike Riding: 30 minutes there; 30 minutes back. You can ride through the city or even mountain bike your favorite trail. Wake up early, catch the sunrise, and head back home. (~700 Calories)
Hit the Water: In a lot of places, there are river cruises and boat rentals. Sometimes you can even have some breakfast on an early morning cruise. Either way, you can enjoy the water and some good company as you start your day.
Workout: There are two kinds of gym people; morning and night. With the time change, you get some extra daylight to enjoy the gym no matter what time you want to go. Maybe you can even skip some of the crowds if you go a little earlier than normal. (~550 Calories)
Outdoor Adventure: Take a hike! No…not in that way. I mean you can go for a morning hike and enjoy the cool air as you experience nature. Just play it safe and keep your phone in your Armpocket so you don’t break it. (~450 Calories)
